I finally watched the movie.
First, I hope u don't mind my messy ideas, or bad English writing. Sorry about it.
One of the great things in the movie is the music. U made a fantastic job. Can u see that?
The music is not just beautiful (that great songs from different bands, different styles, different countries and on the radio stations we just listen creepy pop…so sad) but also makes the movie gain on meaning.
When I watched the movie I didn't found it difficult to understand. That could mean that I am the one who can't understand nothing at all, and can't see even how difficult it is. Some of the thought that the director is expressing on the movie are about the difficulties of been not a standard person in the society: lesbian, with a birth mark, or whatever. But in fact, what is standard? Is not that a concept that the society creates to control the individuals? The society doesn't exist with the individuals, and the society protects the individuals. The society kills the outsider personalities in order to keep a standard, which will bring some harmony and a peaceful (death?) life. Everywhere, every time, for every human being.
We all have our own birth marks, we thought about being death. When the girl speaks about dying, I recalled my primary school times: I remember being in class, lost in my thoughts while the teacher was on Maths, I was about 7 years old, living a good life, but thinking that life is such a painful thing, and that dying is not enough coz dying is a part of living, and the only solution is not to be born, but stay still, not to exist in no way. I mean: that kind of thoughts are natural for every person. Same as eating, loving, fear or peace. So…why people think this is a complex topic? And this same reasoning is for loving in different ways, as the couple does at the end of the moving, loving each other been closer that physical contact, sharing more that the things u can express by words. Being lesbians could be in this movie just a graphic way to show how different love can be; maybe the key point is much deeper than that, because as the girls says, the are not lesbians, or heterosexuals, no men or women: just people loving and sharing.
You are very young, and maybe, me too…but I have been through a situation in which I loved somebody, and that love was not possible, but even that I still love that person cause that is something that if is for really, you can't help it, then u keep on loving that person as an essential and silenced part of your own even for sure you won't be his/her couple anymore. So, once again: the experiences the director put in the film, are not out of common. Is just a picture of all of us. Is not necessary being a lesbian to live those things.
On the other hand, a cinema has its own language, a way to express some ideas. I'm giving an A to the director ideas. About the music selection another A, to let that ideas blossom in the viewers mind while watching the movie. Really helps to follow the film. And, something that I hope one day the director change, if it is her will, is the parts where the 2 girls speaks in a very concentrated and transcendental way: are so beautiful! But in the movie internal time, those scenes pass so quickly then are not easy to get the ideas, and mainly…because it doesn't really let you enjoy of that. Those scenes seem like poems to me, little delicate gifts…that just pass in front of my eyes. I think the time should be paused in there. Maybe is just a personal feeling.
And…what else?
If you want me, I can give you more opinions in details about the movie, scene by scene. But I am not an art critic, so my opinion can't be considered very highly (not high at all, in fact!).
Oh, something more: the actress, obviously are not professional ones, but the played very well, specially the one thinking about commit suicide in the beginning.
And the director…has a very good taste for photography. I would change some things, because I prefer another style, but just small details.
At least, and as the most important: thanks to all of you for sharing the good things that everyone can make. Thinking, making a movie, finding music: making a better life for everyone by sharing good things. |
